furniture care

Our furniture is hand crafted from solid wood, With this type of furniture the fit and finish will always vary from one piece to another. This is quite usual and should be regarded as a part of its uniqueness and charm.

As your furniture matures you may experience some natural movement as the timber settles, this is considered quite normal. In general our ranges are lacquered, requiring little maintenance. Problems may arise with a dramatic change in temperature or humidity, as this can cause excess movement in the wood. In extreme cases this may also lead to warping, or even cracking of joints, to avoid this:

 ·        Do not place solid wood furniture in areas of direct continuous sunlight. Apart from the heat, this may also affect the tone of the wood.

 ·        Never position solid wood furniture against or directly adjacent to central heating radiators. Also try to avoid any humid areas.

 ·        Do not place hot objects directly onto bare wood surfaces. This applies to all furniture.

 ·        On wax finished furniture - do not use silicon based sprays or polish, feed with wax, buff regularly and avoid wiping with a wet cloth.

If you follow these simple guidelines you should have no problems with your furniture and we hope you will enjoy it for many years to come.
